Boarding Pass is a two part digital audio-video-text media art piece.

NYC_001 is a score written for any instrument of sound transmission or formation by which it is possible to create audiovisual space in real time. Three colors: black, red and white are used in a graphical score for each instrument/device. All three parts are performed by watching and following the virtual cursor. Various ways of performance and sound creation are used in the parts of the composition. While performing this score a whole range of different and non-standard sounds are created. In this way the achieved effect is of a non-ordinary play of sounds and sound dance which one can admire in the whole composition or different parts of it. The composition is dedicated to its interpreters who created their own dance- E. and A. Strimaiciai. Video- Džiugas Katinas.

The world is full of secrets. Some of them we carefully keep, some we reveal. Sometimes we even don‘t know about their existence or cautiously hide them under the shatter of glass, as a piece of ourselves.

In the performance “Sekretas” the dancers of AURA Dance Theatre are creating choreographic pictures, changing as the view in kaleidoscope and whispering their secrets with the bodies. What a huge pleasure to blow away the snow of feathers and gasp from astonishment, isn‘t it?

Attention for allergic persons – the feathers are used during the performance.

The performance “Labyrinth” was created to remember Danute Nasvytyte, who was a pioneer of expressive dance in Lithuania. The performance premiere was presented during the opening of the International Dance Festival AURA 26.

During the premiere the space of Kaunas modernistic architecture – “Pienocentras” palace – was filled with unseen and strange vitality. The united team of movement, fine arts, animation and music invited the audience to the mystic artistic action and to the rooms full of secrets. “Labyrinth” is a dance piece based on a series of 8 paintings of Sigi Gabrie (Sigitas Gabrijolavičius), the son of Danutė Nasvytytė. The choreographer Birutė Letukaitė collaborating with creative team of Kaunas biennial, settled down the dancers of AURA Dance Theatre in the spaces of “Pienocentras” where all together were invited to travel not only with our bodies, but also in our minds. To travel in time, in our consciousness and unconsciousness, in the past and in our memories where the audience met symbolic, metaphorical figures, images and characters.

The paintings of Sigi Gabrie tell the story of a small child, as yet unknown journey through life using mythologies of the Labyrinth. Her mother spins the clothes line to start her journey, and follows behind her watching the pathway… In this story the idea of a Minotaur is not the fear of a monstrous bull, but the fear of the unknown. The paintings are based on the physical concept of a rotating clothes line, from which various images and symbols are hanged like painted illustrated sheets. The characters (dancers) haunt the passages through the labyrinth. A photographer follows the child through the labyrinth taking photographs of encounters with the various mythical figures, and then leaves the photo records behind as memories. The photographs represent memory of the experience from art, legends and fables. The dancers in each choreography interpret and improvise on the theme of each visual metaphor seen in the paintings.

The project is supported by Lithuanian Council for Culture, Kaunas City Municipality.
Project partner for spaces – Kaunas Technology University.

Performance GODOS*, created by famous Lithuanian choreographer Birutė Letukaitė and two Norwegian choreographers Anne Ekenes and Pia Holden, reveals the world where the past, the present and the future intertwist, where feminine sensuality, secret mythological creatures and futuristic visions meet.

What is the importance of history to any individual? How does the past shape our identity? Godos, considered to be a Lithuanian feminine narrative, takes one of the starting points in this double bill dance performance. Godos is an old Lithuanian word that is usually defined as wistful dreams, feelings, hopes, nostalgic thoughts and unfulfilled expectations. What does Godos mean today and how do we experience Godos?

Panta Rei takes its inspiration from the interpretation of Godos as the song of the heart. Meanwhile, the inspiration for the Lithuanian choreography is the elemental past and its reflections in the people of today. What is hiding in the fur of a bewitched werewolf? What spells do contemporary hags use? Who brings the luck if we don‘t believe to brownies anymore? With subtle reference to the Lithuanian myths and legends, the dancers move in patterns, forms and the rhythm that reminds the clattering of weaving looms. A contemporary man sits down at these looms and weaves a band which is as colorful as our life: full of thoughts about who we are today and who we will become tomorrow.

Texts: extracs from “Verità Parallele” by Leonidas Donskis, George Orwell “Animal Farm”, Daniel Kahneman “Thinking, Fast and Slow”

Duration: 60 min.

Daily research of copula: with yourself, with the other, with God. Yet connections are broken, remade. Shattered sexuality, the relation between man and woman, various -isms – all surpass one another, thrust new truths and proclaim the era of new gods. In this era the value of a human being is determined not by us, but by the system which we either match or not. We are complying with the dimensions measured in centimeters, with brands and purchasing capacity. The system prefers (uni)sex, (uni)you and (uni)him, because I hardly obeys.

Inspiration source of the performance is MOTUS – creative motion enhancer. MOTUS is a wireless performance controller that collects data about dancer’s motions and coverts it to gestures and control parameters for sound synthesizers and audio effects. The space around dancer becomes a touchless surface, a canvas that dancer can interact with and hear the sound feedback immediately.
